Day Five Wrap

In our Day Five update Wendi and Crosbie talk about today’s Tattersall Cup presentation to the Alive team as the IRC Overall winner. They also provide an update on current conditions at sea and the Divisional leaders across the fleet.

Two special guests joined Wendi and Crosbie to reflect on the 25th anniversary of the tragic 1998 Sydney Hobart Race in which they both competed and how they made the most of the opportunities they got on the offshore racing scene.

Rachael Crompton and Simone Hill were part of an all women crew that raced to Hobart in 1995 aboard the 35 footer Cape Fear.

In 1998 Rachael and Crosbie were aboard Dick Voordehake’s Lyons 40 Rapscallion (formerly the 1993 winner Cuckoo’s Nest), while Simone was sailing on the 62 foot Infinity (the former Brindabella).

The trio reflect on that experience, how they pushed themselves to create opportunities on the sailing scene, what they did to make the most of those opportunities and the friendship groups they forged that remain strong today.
